How We Use AI in Our Web Development Workflow

A look at how Spacebox Studio uses AI tools to move faster without cutting corners on quality, from planning to code review.

AI tools have changed how we build websites, but not in the way most people expect. They haven't replaced thinking through a project carefully, they've just removed a lot of the busywork that used to slow that thinking down.

Where AI Actually Helps

The biggest wins come from the parts of a project that are repetitive but still need attention to detail: scaffolding components, writing first-draft copy for review, generating variations of a layout, and catching obvious bugs before they reach a real browser.

Where It Doesn't

AI is bad at judgment calls: what a client actually needs versus what they asked for, how a design should feel, and whether a shortcut today will cause problems in six months. Those decisions still come from experience and a conversation with the client.

Our Workflow in Practice

  • Planning: We still sketch out structure and content by hand before any code is written.
  • Building: AI-assisted tooling speeds up component scaffolding and repetitive markup.
  • Review: Every piece of generated code is read, tested, and often rewritten before it ships.
  • Content: AI helps draft, but copy is always edited to match the client's voice.

The Result

Projects move faster without feeling templated. Clients get a site that's been thought through carefully, built efficiently, and reviewed by a person at every step.
